Welcome to GCC Kids!

Our Kids Ministry exists to make Jesus the Hero to the families and children that walk through the doors of GCC. One of the ways we make Jesus the Hero is by sharing the gospel week in and week out in our Kids gatherings. In this, our hope is that whether you attend regularly or are visiting for the first time, you and your kids walk into the rest of your days and weeks knowing that Jesus, the hero, has given you eternal hope in God!

Our Kids gatherings on Sunday mornings consist of time together playing, learning about the gospel through the Bible, worshiping and singing to God, all while having fun with our church family and community! Every week, generous volunteers spend their Sunday morning leading and guiding our kids through play time, activities, crafts, games, and conversations that play a small part in the discipleship of our youngest family members. We recognize that parents, guardians, and loved ones play the biggest role in discipling their children on a regular basis. GCC Kids Ministry wants to support, care, and pray for you as you lead your little ones to know Jesus as the Hero!

What to expect

classrooms & Check-in/Pick-up

We currently have classrooms open for walking toddlers through 5th grade.

All age groups can check-in before service starts. All kids will receive a printed nametag with a unique security code. Parents will also receive a printed sticker/tag with the same security code, used for security purposes when picking up children. If you are a first-time visitor, during check-in we will also ask about any allergies, your child’s emergency contact, and we will clarify our child safety procedures in regards to diapering/restroom trips.

Walking toddlers and preschoolers can be dropped off during check-in, or later if parents would prefer. Any kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade will join parents in the service until they are dismissed directly after the first set of worship. Walking toddlers through preschoolers can also be dropped off at this time.

After service, walking toddlers and preschoolers can be picked up at the same location as drop-off. Elementary students (K-5) will need to be picked up from their classroom downstairs, near the front entrance of our building. Parents, make sure to bring your security tag that you received at check-in, as you will show this to your child’s teacher.

Curriculum

We currently use The Gospel Project (TGP) curriculum for our Kids Ministry. TGP walks through both Old Testament and New Testament bible stories and lessons. We believe that all of Scripture points to Jesus, so even through Old Testament passages, we will see the consistent foreshadowing of a promised Savior. In the New Testament, we get to rejoice in Jesus’ birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection! Therefore every week, no matter the bible passage/lesson, we will see how Jesus is the Hero!

  • Every Sunday, we will complete one TGP lesson. Multiple lessons make up a unit. Every TGP unit has a repeated Key Passage and Big Picture Question & Answer. In our Preschool/Toddler room, teachers will focus on communicating the Big Picture Question & Answer, a concept that we can learn through repetition as we make our way through several bible lessons/Sundays. In our Elementary classroom, teachers will focus on the Key Passage, a memory verse that communicates the same concept as the Big Picture Question & Answer.

  • Unit 4 - Lessons 1, 2, 3, 4

Unit 4 Big Picture Question & Answer:

Does God keep His promises? Yes, God always keeps His promises because He is faithful.

    Unit 4 Key Passage:

“God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19

Teachers and Helpers will use the curriculum and a myriad of fun crafts, games, activities, and conversations to encourage kids to continue to engage the lesson with their minds and hearts. So even outside curriculum-specific activities, we encourage volunteers to use even the smallest moments to continue gospel conversation while playing, having snack, and cleaning up. And at the end of the day, we just really enjoy building community with our youngest church members!

Family Room

Updates to the cry room

In order to foster a space where either parent can play with and hold their littles ones during service, we’ve removed one of the privacy screens and will keep the door open. Moms and dads, please feel free to use this room in order to hear the sermon in a more kid friendly environment, to change a diaper, etc.

We will continue to maintain a screened area in the back where parents are welcome to the feed in private. Mothers in particular, please know we invite you to care for and feed you babies in whatever space you’re most comfortable!
