why do we serve?

We serve because he first served us.

GCC’s mission is to make Jesus the hero, and we believe serving on volunteer teams is one powerful way we can do just that. Mark 10:45 says that Jesus came not to be served but to serve. His ultimate service to his people was to give up his life on the cross. On the cross, he paid the debt we owe for our sin, bore the wrath of the Father, and died in our place. Jesus is the great suffering servant, who laid his life down for us so that we could be a new creation and experience the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. We make Jesus the hero when we serve others in the church as he has served us. This brings us joy and God glory (1 Peter 4:10-11)!

There are a variety of ways you could serve at GCC. Scripture tells us that we have been given gifts we can use to serve others (1 Peter 4:10). This can be anything from showing hospitality by welcoming others, exercising administrative skills by coordinating events, to helping teach Sunday school.

How to Get Involved

Anyone interested in volunteering at GCC can request to join a team through Church Center. To download the Church Center app and view each team and its description, click the button below. When you decide which team you are most interested in, go to that groups’ page and select the ‘request to join’ button to let us know you’d like to join or if you have any questions. The lead of that team will be notified and connect with you to get you onboarded! Once you are added to the group on Church Center, you will have access to group messaging and all other resources.
